Little Ava’s room

In this project, my client approached me with a vision to create a new bedroom for her 3 year old daughter Ava. With the future in mind, she wanted a space which her granddaughter could grow into. A spacious room for playing within that would continue to serve the formative stages of her childhood. With this in mind, I began designing a space that would reflect Ava’s world. A room which was truly Ava’s.

Translating Ava’s love of pink and green into a playful, yet refined color scheme, I painted the walls Celedon Green by Benjamin Moore (2028-60) in order to compliment the pink accents. Enhancing the feel of ‘play’, contrasting striped and textured pom pom fabrics create a joyful, immersive environment that Ava truly loved.

The room is completed with carefully chosen furnishings; a daybed space for playtime, alongside nightstands and dresser units that are accented with pink inlays to reflect the room’s vibrant palette. Meanwhile, with safety in mind, the use of cordless windows shades were installed to prevent children playing with cords, while avoiding the unappealing sight lines of cords. Placed center stage, a custom canopy above the bed is adorned with Ava’s name; allowing Ava to declare the room as her own.
